Hey-
I meet you this past weekend and just wanted to drop a line. It was a pleasure meeting you and looking forward to taking you up on that Sunday fishing outing you were talking about. have a good one.
Tight Lines,
Craig
I had reserved time for this Sunday at 4:00. My wife and I will be unable to come due to work restrictions. Very disappointed!! We try to reschedule soon! Thanks
CRFLYSHOP,
I appreciate the flies a few weeks back. I caught around 15 on the chatooga. I’ll be visiting soon again when I head up that ways.
Thanks again,
Matt
Jason,
Enjoyed the talk and info last Friday. I believe I ended up with 6 all on the olive wooly bugger. Will plan to come up once the delayed harvest is in full swing.
The site I was thinking of was the Angler’s Roost for the bamboo blanks.
Thanks again,
Ronnie
Ronnie,
Really enjoyed talking to you the other day and casting that sweet bamboo rod… Only three weeks until Delayed Harvest!! We are looking forward to that, I can tell you! We will see you when it gets cranked up, have fun til then…
Jason
Are you having any fly tying in the upcoming weeks? (thurs night)
Rick,
we have moved fly tying night around a bit since we last saw you. Fly tying night is now on Wednesdays, and on the 2nd and 4th week of the month. So every other week essentially. Let me know if you want to come. The river is fishing great, I don’t know if you have hit it, but if not now is the time…..
Jason,
Planning to be up there next week. What are they biting?
Ronnie
Ronnie,
They have been doing pretty well on Olive Boufaces, Olive Wooly Buggers, Whitlocks RFSN, Hares ears(small), Y2K’s, and black nymphs. Soft hackles have really been doing well also, PT’s and Hares Ears… If we are open, stop in and let me know how you did…..
hey im from charlotte, was wondering how far away you are and more importantly, is it worth the trip this time of year? what kind of fish you guys got down there
Matt,
I would say that we are about three and a half hours away from Charlotte. It would definitely be worth the trip as the river is fishing extremely well right now. Delayed Harvest section is doing extremely well and more remote sections of the river are fishing just as well. We have Browns, Rainbow, and Brook with the occasional Coosae Bass thrown in there. It is a great fishery this time of year, even into colder weather it is good, you just fish the warm part of the day…
Do you have fly tying tonight, Weds 12/08? Time?
Rick
Just Wanted to say thanks, got to meet up with you on Thurs2/24/11 and you really put us on the fish with the flys for the job. Though i didnt get to hook up. i witnessed my buddy land the largest rainbow ive seen in person with a fly you recomended. I look forward to talking with you again, and plan to be back in a matter of weeks 3/15-3/16/11 Thanks alot,
Tight lines, Samoset
You guys are extremely welcome. I am glad you all had a good trip and got to tie into a good fish while you were there…. See you soon
Jason,
I had a great day on the river yesterday. The flys you recommended were dead on target. I didn’t get on the DH until 1pm and caught the first at 1:06 on the caddis emerger and the second at 1:09 on the Y2K.
By the end of the day I’d brought 19 to hand, with most coming between 4 – 6pm on the soft-hackle hare’s ear. Unfortunately, I lost them both in the depths of the Tooga. Got a hat trick with a brookie, a brown, and the rest rainbows. The brown was #15 of the day and was 19.5 inches – definitely the highlight. It was my best day on a river in Georgia ever.
I really appreciate the help and look forward to hitting the river with you sometime.
Best,
Bill
Bill, it makes me happy to no end to hear you had such a great day. Look forward to seeing you again…
Jason,
I meant to post this earlier. We were talking rods when I was there in November and discussed the “switch” rod. I found a kit on sale (Rainforest 10″-8″, 5wt., 4 piece) shortly after that and built it this past winter. Tried out this spring and summer and its pretty phenominal. This thing would be great on those deep holes with only a roll cast is available too you. If you or some the regulars up there get a hold to one I would like to hear the reports.
Otherwise hope the shop has been doing well and I plan to see you this fall.
Ronnie Poston
Ronnie, I have got quite a few of the boys on the 10 foot 4 and 5 weights but they are not true “switch” rods. It is funny how great the long rods work for nymphing. The shop is fine, just holding our breath until fall time…lol. Look forward to seeing you and talking rods again…
Jason
Will plan on it, take care, and continued good luck with the shop.
Are you operational this time of year or is it just too warm out there? I live in the area and have been thinking about blowing the dust of my waders some time. Thanks.
John O.
John, it is just a bit too warm for us right now. We are holding our breath for October, but stop in anytime on the weekends until, we will be there……
Hey Jason,
I met you last Saturday afternoon and enjoyed visiting your shop. I love going into little shops like yours. Thank you for the time you took to talk a little while and for the tips. Look forward to getting back up to South Carolina ASAP! Look forward to seeing you then and doing a bit of freshwater fly-fishing.
Best Regards,
Daniel
Daniel,
Thank you for the kind words. You are quite welcome for the time and tips, but lets be honest the next best thing to fishing is talking about fishing…lol. We will see you when you come back through….
Jason
Jason,
Planning to head to the mountains in November and I remember you had motel/accomodation advertised at the shop. Was wondering if you had contact for such in area.
Thanks
Ronnie Poston
Jason,
I can’t thank you enough for the great guiding and general services Chatooga River Fly Shop provided us the past weekend. With the guiding from you and Marcus, the fishing was superb. You and your staff turned a great weekend into one of the best fishing experiences I’ve had.
We can’t wait to come back!
Thomas Spratt
Thomas,
Thanks for the kind words. We love what we do and that is really all I can say about that….lol. So glad you guys had a good time. We will see you soon..
Jason
